Battlefield 6 rolls out a big update with Ice Lock map, Gauntlet mode and major fixes

EA and Battlefield Studios have just deployed Battlefield 6 update 1.1.3.0 on PS5, PC and Xbox Series X/S, as part of the Winter Offensive. Headlining: the temporary map “Ice Lock Empire State”, a frigid version of Empire State, with its streets frozen in ice and a seasonal visual atmosphere. The event also introduces a limited Gauntlet mode, playable with Domination and Conquest, as well as a new melee weapon, the Ice Climbing Axe, unlockable via the event bonus pass.

The Ice Lock map is also integrated into Portal experiences for the duration of the event. On the pass side, players will be able to progress through 11 reward levels including exclusive cosmetics and XP boosts.

Better readability of close combat

Version 1.1.3.0 brings several improvements targeted at the readability and responsiveness of clashes. Impact detection has been reworked to be more reliable, especially during rapid fire or aim changes. “These updates make bullet impacts more predictable and damage better perceived in real time.”

In addition, the visibility of soldiers at close range has been improved thanks to stronger highlights and better animation in the prone position. The goal is to allow players to better spot opponents in busy or dark environments.

Better balanced weapons and gadgets

One of the key points of this update is the improvement in weapon handling, with more consistent precision, corrected animations and better recoil management. “Weapons are now more stable and predictable during gunfights.”

On the gadget side, the LWCMS portable mortar, the resupply pouch and even the moving tools benefit from enhanced reliability. The behavior of drones, throwing knives and even grenades has also been adjusted, with smoother animations and better response.

Massive fixes for vehicles, audio and UI

This version 1.1.3.0 of Battlefield 6 did not skimp on bug fixes. Many issues affecting vehicles (damage zones, HUD, camera behaviors) have been fixed. The developers have also redesigned the balancing of several map sectors for Breakthrough mode.

Audio is not left out: “These changes are part of an ongoing effort to improve the overall stability of the soundscape.” Footsteps and audio cues related to armor or vehicles are now clearer, even in the middle of battle.

Finally, the user interface and HUD elements have been refined in every detail, from the mini-map to equipment animations, to provide a more coherent and immersive gaming experience.
