A games focus around Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
For this edition, Geek Days chose to place the game Chiaroscuro: Expedition 33 at the center of their programming. The ticket office clearly mentions that the show is adopting the theme of the “Clair-Obscur phenomenon game”, with an obvious wink: it is encouraged to come in a sailor’s shirt to stick to the universe of the title.
Released in the spring, the RPG from French studio Sandfall Interactive established itself as one of the great successes of the year, exceeding 5 million copies sold and winning several major awards, including a harvest of prizes at the Golden Joystick Awards. Its universe inspired by Paris in the 1900s, its very marked artistic direction and its orchestral soundtrack have made it a true pop culture phenomenon, widely used in cosplay and fan art.
At Geek Days, this enthusiasm is reflected in several ways:
- Presence of the VO/VF team : figures like Feodor Atkine and Serge Thiriet come to meet visitors to talk about dubbing, artistic direction and behind-the-scenes production.
- Fanzone : a space decorated to recreate the atmosphere of the game, with decorations, chalk expression wall, activities and meetings. Visitors can leave a message or a drawing there, in the spirit of the walls covered with annotations already proposed during events around Cyberpunk 2077.
- Dedicated bookstore/artbook : the release of the book Clair Obscur is announced for the Friday before the show, with availability from Saturday on the Fanzone, in limited quantities. This is the opportunity to leave with an artbook and have it signed by guests linked to the game.
More generally, the video games zone of the festival remains focused on console and PC gaming, tournaments, retro, VR and stands from publishers or local associations, in line with previous editions.
