Auto-aim, a hot topic in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 since its release, will be seriously strengthened. This was announced by Treyarch in a video published on November 20 on social networks. Faced with massive feedback from players, the studio promises a targeted adjustment on long distances, just before the launch of the first season of the game.
This fix is part of a broader set of changes, which also includes a reduction in the effectiveness of the Drone Pod, a mini-map with an expanded action radius, and a rebalancing of damage in Hardcore mode. Everything is planned for implementation in the days preceding the start of Season 1.
Why Treyarch is beefing up aim assist
Black Ops 7’s aim assist has never really convinced since launch. Deemed too “squishy”, it was widely criticized, including by professional players. Shotzzy, undisputed star of the Call of Duty League, even called it “absurd, and not in a good way.”
In his speech, Treyarch explains that he has taken this feedback very seriously: “There is a lot of talk about aim assist; we are following the discussions closely and, of course, we are analyzing our internal data. We are quite happy with the current situation, but we will make some subtle changes and slightly strengthen aim assist based on range before the start of Season 1.”
This reinforcement should especially be felt on long-range shots, where precision was sorely lacking compared to previous opuses.
Spawn, mini-map and access to Endgame mode: other changes to come
Treyarch doesn’t stop there. Other technical modifications are planned, notably on the appearance logic. The studio indicates that it wants to improve the spawn system “in general” and correct certain contentious points, in particular on maps where imbalances appear in modes like Hardpoint.
HASother good news for players: “Endgame” modepreviously accessible only after completing the single-player campaign, will now be unlocked for everyone, regardless of their progress. A decision which aims to maintain player engagement and facilitate access to post-campaign content.
Despite these efforts, Black Ops 7 remains struggling in the face of fierce competition from current FPS games. Between Battlefield 6, which has become the biggest commercial success of the genre, and ARC Raiders, king of extraction, Activision’s new opus is struggling to establish itself in the long term.
