The FPS duel continues to generate ink. Released almost at the same time, Battlefield 6 And Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 compete for the attention of multiplayer fans. If their campaigns were considered disappointing, their online methods are becoming more effective. And to stay in the race, Battlefield 6 decided to take direct inspiration from its competitor.
What’s new? A feature that seemed innocuous but which is unanimously appreciated: customizing the color of the reticle. Already available in Black Ops 7 with distinct shades for each mode – green for zombies, red for multiplayer, blue for the campaign – this option will soon arrive in Battlefield 6. A direct response to the request of fans, frustrated by its absence in the current version.
An update eagerly awaited by fans
It’s Florian Le Bihan, lead designer of Battlefield 6who confirmed on Twitter that this improvement was in development. “We are working on an update that will allow players to change the color of their reticle,” he said, without giving a release date.
In the meantime, the game will benefit in the coming days from a patch introducing a new map called Eastwood, integrated into the Season 1 rotation. Other comfort improvements are announced, but the full details have not yet been revealed. This update could strengthen the game’s appeal, particularly among competitive players who demand a more customizable interface.
Battlefield 6 faces the hegemony of Call of Duty
Even if Battlefield 6 attempts to seduce an audience that has been somewhat neglected until now, the battle remains unequal. The marketing power of Call of Duty and its loyal player base leaves little room for competition. According to analysts, Black Ops 7 should dominate sales, like its predecessors, barring notable poor performances or event releases like Hogwarts Legacy last year.
However, the visible progress and efforts of the developers of Battlefield 6 show a real desire to reconquer. And in an industry where regular updates can reverse the trend, nothing is certain. The introduction of custom reticles may be just the beginning.
