Concord is back thanks to fans, but Sony is doing everything to stop the project

No question of digging up this corpse at Sony

Who knows who still wants to play Concord today, but some developers (Red, open_wizard, and gwog) set out to design dedicated servers for the Firewalk game so that it could still be accessible. These servers made it possible to find this hero-shooter by reactivating matchmaking and designing a structure solid enough to host a few matches. The whole thing was obviously full of bugs and other issues, but it was the first step towards an unofficial reopening of Concord.

Was Sony happy to see people digging up its biggest failure in recent years? Of course not. Very quickly, the collective’s videos received copyright complaints (DMCA) from MarkScana company which is responsible for identifying rights infringements around certain brands, including those of Sony. The Game Post points out here that it was the same company behind the complaints surrounding the demake project of Bloodborne.

If these complaints do not directly target the new servers as such, but the gameplay videos taken from them, it goes without saying that Sony is undoubtedly ready to go further. On the Discord where this project was born, Red, one of the three developers, says it has paused the invitation system on these servers for fear of legal action. Sony definitely doesn’t want to see anymore Concordone way or another…
