While PlayStation players are used to monthly free games via the PS Plus subscription, this new offer breaks the codes. Sony offers free downloads of the first three episodes of Lost Lands, a license developed by Five-BN Games, initially popularized on PC. These games can be kept for life, unconditionally, with no limited duration or hidden fees.
A fantastic and mysterious adventure
At the heart of the Lost Lands saga, we follow Susan, an ordinary heroine thrown into a parallel world filled with magic, ancient ruins, and supernatural creatures. In The Dark Lord, the first opus, she goes in search of her missing son. In The Horsemen of the Apocalypse, the second part, she must counter a curse caused by four destructive entities. Finally, The Cursed Gold, third chapter, takes him on a quest against evil druids and a threat emerging from the depths. Each title features a blend of storytelling, exploration, hidden objects and varied puzzles, with immersive sound and colorful visuals.
An experience accessible to all
What makes this trilogy particularly appealing is its accessibility. No subscription is required: simply go to the PlayStation Store to add the games to your library. Although they include optional microtransactions (in particular to facilitate certain puzzles), the entire adventure can be experienced without additional expenditure. With an intuitive interface, a well-balanced difficulty and a calm rhythm, Lost Lands is aimed at a wide audience: solo players, fans of puzzles, or fans of enchanting stories.
A promising editorial strategy?
This move by Sony could be part of a broader strategy: highlighting narrative games with high added value while diversifying its free offering. Offering a complete trilogy in one go is a strong signal, and it would not be surprising to see other episodes of the series land on PS5. Lost Lands could thus become a showcase for reintroducing forgotten genres on console: narrative point & click, very popular on PC, but still rare on PlayStation.
