BioWare assures that the next Mass Effect continues to be in development, and provides information on the TV series

No Shepard in the TV series?

As you can imagine, for this N7 Day 2025, BioWare will not present the next one in detail Mass Effecteven if it was talked about in previous years. Since the studio is in a difficult situation, we will have to settle for a simple blog post, which aims to take stock of the future of the series. Faced with fears of seeing this game Mass Effect be canceled, Mike Gamble, executive producer, wants to assure us that production on this episode is still underway :

Like you, we’ve heard the rumors lately. You have clearly expressed your keen interest in what comes next. So, let’s get something straight: the next Mass Effect is in development, and EA and BioWare remain committed to exploring this universe further. In fact, it’s been an incredibly busy few years at BioWare. But currently, the team is fully focused on Mass Effect. We have a huge universe to explore, many features to develop and many romances to set up. We’re excited about what we’re creating, and we promise: When we’re ready, it will be a blast to show you. In the meantime, thank you for your patience. You are impatient to have news and I can see that you are looking for hidden meanings in my tweets (well, sometimes there are some). »

A confirmation which is better than silence in this particularly difficult context for the studio. Mike Gamble also speaks of the TV series adaptation project at Amazon, which also continues its journey, while specifying that this will be a new story, after the first trilogy :

I haven’t talked about it much, but maybe you’ve heard of a TV series? We are working closely with Amazon on this project and are really excited about the work of their talented team. The writing team is hard at work and we’ve already made some progress on how the series fits into the Mass Effect universe and how it fits into the new game. The series will explore a previously unseen story in the timeline of that universe and will take place after the original trilogy. This won’t be a retelling of Commander Shepard’s story, because after all…it’s YOUR story, right? »

BioWare will therefore not embark on a strict adaptation of the first three games, which is undoubtedly the safest option to avoid the wrath of certain fans. Let’s still hope to find some familiar faces, like Liara or Garrus, in the absence of Shepard (although…).
