Black Ops 7 on PC: complete configs, pitfalls to avoid and advice before release

If you thought your PC would “hold up” for the next entry in the Call of Duty saga, think again : the publisher sets the bar higher than ever. The Activision studio has revealed the expected configurations for the game, and your entire machine must be ready. In this article, you will know who, what, where, when, why around the Black Ops 7 PC requirements: what system, what hardware, and why these requirements.

The game is officially released on November 14 on PC, PlayStation and Xboxbut on the PC side, a technical surprise awaits players. To run the game, you will need more than a good graphics card: two new hardware requirements have been added. Here’s what you need to know to avoid unpleasant surprises at launch.

What PC requirements are needed for Black Ops 7

To play in good conditions, Activision has published three configuration profiles: minimum, recommended and ultra 4K. These specifications take into account not only graphics performance, but also the security of your machine.

Minimum system requirements

  • Operating system: Windows 10 64-bit (latest update)
  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 1400 or Intel Core i5-6600
  • RAM: 8 GB of RAM
  • Graphics card: AMD Radeon RX 470 or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 / GTX 1060 or Intel Arc A580
  • Video memory: 3 GB minimum
  • Storage: SSD with 116 GB of available space
  • Others: High-speed Internet connection, DirectX 12, TPM 2.0 enabled, Secure Boot required

Recommended configuration

  • Operating system: Windows 11 64-bit (latest update)
  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 1600X or Intel Core i7-6700K
  • RAM: 12 GB
  • Graphics card: AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 or Intel Arc B580
  • Video memory: 8 GB

Ultra / 4K / eSports configuration

  • Graphics card: AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 / RTX 5070
  • Video memory: 16 GB
  • Storage: SSD with 116 GB of available space

These configurations only concern Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. If you plan to install also Warzoneyou will need to provide even more disk space.

TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot, the new hidden requirements

A major new feature accompanies Black Ops 7: the game absolutely requires two security features activated in the BIOS of your PC, namely TPM 2.0 (Trusted Platform Module) and Secure Boot. This is not an optional detail: the game simply will not launch without these two elements enabled.

According to Activision, “these features perform checks during system and game startup, but remain inactive during gameplay.” In other words, these security systems are there to prevent cheating and manipulation of the system kernel, without burdening gameplay or reducing performance.

This is a reinforced anti-cheat strategy which is part of a desire to standardize security on all platforms, particularly since the Xbox Series and PlayStation consoles already require this level of protection by default.

Windows laptop gamers will also be able to benefit from extensive compatibility, with graphics adaptation for small screens, better text readability, and optimized battery management.

Why your setup is more important than ever

Black Ops 7 promises to be the densest episode of the franchise. The story takes place in 2035, in a world on the brink of chaos, ravaged by conflict and psychological warfare after the events of Black Ops 2 And Black Ops 6. This storyline context justifies an ambitious graphic update and increasingly heavy resources.

Hence the need for an SSD, now imperative even in minimal configuration, and a minimum of 116 GB of free space. Please note: this space does not take into account future updates, which may quickly increase the total.

Even for those who play “just at 1080p”, the demands remain high. And for fans of 144 Hz, ray tracing or 4K, the ultra configuration becomes a must.

Before the official release, here’s what you should check on your machine:

  • That your BIOS authorizes TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot (to be activated if it is not already done)
  • That you have a fast SSD with at least 120 GB free
  • That your graphics card has 8 GB of VRAM to avoid FPS drops
  • That your system is up to date (Windows 10 or 11)
