Who has never dreamed of playing a dinosaur? Dinoblade doesn’t just answer this question: he explodes it with a giant sword. Available for free on Steam in demo version since November 2, this action RPG from Team Spino LLC transforms the Spinosaurus into a video game hero, between stylized combat and an apocalyptic prehistoric atmosphere.
The concept is as simple as it is improbable: you play a young Spinosaurus in a world ravaged by a mysterious event. The developer summarizes the pitch as follows: “It’s an intense action RPG set in a prehistoric world forever transformed by a cataclysmic event that redefined the very nature of dinosaurs.” No pistols or rifles here, but an immense blade forged in ancestral energy. The objective? Eliminate rival dinosaurs, sometimes also armed, and fend off further extinction.
A free demo already available on Steam
If the full game is expected in 2026, no precise date has yet been communicated. In the meantime, Dinoblade offers a playable demo accessible for free, allowing you to explore the introduction and the first hour of play. This culminates with a boss fight which gives a foretaste of the challenge that the title wants to impose on its players.
This first contact reveals a game surprising in its nervousness, with mechanics that borrow from both beat ’em all and classic RPGs. With each victory, the player gains Strength, a resource that unlocks new skills, modifiable depending on the combat style. Between two confrontations, the soundscape and stylized settings immerse the player in a fantastic, almost mystical prehistory.
A dinosaur game like no other
Far from management classics like Jurassic World Evolution or contemplative experiences like Horizon, Dinoblade plays the intensity card. Its developers promise rhythmic combat, varied enemies, and a gradual increase in power. “Play as a young Spinosaurus, wielding a colossal sword forged from ancient power. Face off against rival dinosaurs, some armed with fearsome weapons, in a desperate fight to prevent imminent extinction.”
Between a nostalgic homage to Turok and total originality, Dinoblade could well become one of the most noticed indie games of 2026. For now, it costs nothing to give it a chance.
