Since the release of Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater On August 28, 2025, players were impatiently awaiting the arrival of the multiplayer mode announced by Konami. It’s now done: on October 30, the free update was deployed on Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PC, opening the doors to Fox Hunt, an online gaming experience designed to make even the most seasoned players sweat.
Designed as a natural extension of the MGS universe, Fox Hunt doesn’t just add content: it rethinks the way you interact with the environment, other players and infiltration mechanics. All in familiar settings where each element can become a trap or an opportunity.
Capture, survival and confrontation: the rules of the game
Fox Hunt offers two distinct game modes, accessible to a maximum of 12 players per game. The first, called “Capture and Survival”, introduces a surprising concept: players must collect a limited number of Kerotan frogs hidden on the map. A nod to the mini-games and hidden bonuses of the franchise.
But behind the apparent lightness of the objective hides a brutal principle: the fewer Kerotans there are, the more the tension rises. Tacit alliances are shattered, and survival requires the elimination of other participants. It is a game of opportunism, timing management and contained aggression, which forces each player to constantly measure their decisions.
The second mode, “Survival and Intrusion”, draws more on the DNA of the series. Here, it is not a question of collecting, but of infiltrating, observing, and adapting. Each player plays an Agent equipped with the AT-CAMO suit, capable of optimizing stealth in different environments. The playing space gradually shrinks throughout the phases, creating a tension comparable to that of a battle royale.
Every corner becomes a potential hiding place, every noise a warning signal. Defending an area is not just a tactical act: it is a question of reading the terrain, anticipation, and sometimes, pure luck.
Fox Hunt, between modernity and heritage
By integrating this multiplayer mode, Konami seeks to extend the lifespan of the remake while strengthening the bond between generations of players. The camouflage system, the survival mechanics, the environmental pressure: everything is designed to respect the heritage of Snake Eaterwhile injecting a current competitive dynamic.
With more than a million copies sold since its release, Metal Gear Solid Δ has already established itself as a commercial success. Fox Hunt adds a new dimension to this success, introducing replayability and community potential that could lastingly transform the gaming experience.
