Today, this cult game is the subject of an impressive remake, unofficialdeveloped by a fan under Unreal Engine 5.
Behind this visual resurrection lies Apfelbauma series enthusiast and Unreal developer. His goal? “Taking the entire original game and recreating it with the modern engine.” And the least we can say is that the bet paid off. The result is simply stunning.
A return to Bayview, more alive than ever
Even though it is still a version under developmentthe demo currently available already offers a great showcase of the project’s potential. THE full career mode is planned, just like a faithful reconstruction of Bayviewthe game’s famous urban environment.
Some essential features are still missing: no traffic or AI adversaries for the moment. But it should only be a matter of time. Apfelbaum has already integrated dynamic weather effects and of new painting modelsoffering a more immersive atmosphere than ever. The storms in particular add a visual tension absent from the original game.
Accessible via the Discord server of RPGGameplaythis fan-made remake is already attracting attention for its quality of finish. There is still a way to go before we can talk about a complete version, but for the nostalgic as well as the curious, this project makes you want to dive back into the streets of Bayview.
