A departure that shakes up Vantage Studios’ plans
Marc-Alexis Côté is known as the producer and above all the person in charge of the license Assassin’s Creed at Ubisoft. His departure was announced in an email from Christophe Derennes, co-CEO, relayed by IGN and Gautoz from the media Origami, in which we can see that Vantage Studios tried to retain him, in particular by offering him more responsibilities and weight within this new subsidiary :
“ Although we are disappointed by his decision, we understand and respect MAC’s personal expectations and priorities. [Marc-Alexis Côté] regarding the creation and future of Vantage Studios. Unfortunately, despite being offered several opportunities to serve on the leadership team and set our strategic direction, MAC respectfully declined the offer and decided to begin its next chapter elsewhere. »
If this announcement can immediately be linked to recent information around a canceled episode of Assassin’s Creed, which was to take place after the Civil War in the United States, we should not draw hasty conclusions either. According to Gautoz, the position occupied by Marc-Alexis Côté could be relocated to Paris (to be close to the management of Vantage Studios), which is necessarily rather far from Quebec, and which could explain why the person concerned prefers to leave his place. However, the fact that Derennes mentions “ personal expectations and priorities regarding the creation and future of Vantage Studios » may also suggest that this departure was not smooth, and that there is perhaps more to dig into here.

For the moment, only the Vantage Studios version is known, Marc-Alexis Côté having not yet commented on his departure. The license Assassin’s Creed In this case loses his thinking head, which will inevitably have some consequences.
