The free anime channel AKIBA ANIME, which was announced in April 2026 and is a joint project between peppermint anime and Mainstream Media, officially began broadcasting today. We summarize.

AKIBA ANIME is a so-called FAST channel (Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television). This is a free-to-use, ad-financed streaming service that is broadcast as a linear television channel.
The 24-hour program is now available on Rakuten TV and will also be offered on Prime Video and Zattoo from August 2026. Other platforms will follow at a later date.
The channel will initially only show series from the peppermint anime portfolio, including “Demon Slayer”, “Your Lie in April”, “Steins;Gate”, “Charlotte”, “AnoHana”, “Free!”, “The Testament of Sister New Devil”, “Sword Art Online”, “Assassination Classroom”, “Kenichi”, “Fire Force” and “The Asterisk War”.
The broadcast schedule for the next two weeks can be viewed on the official website. However, there is currently no media library or on-demand function for content that has already been broadcast.
