Netflix is ​​adding the original film “Scarlet” to its program


An entry on Netflix announced today that the streaming service will soon be adding the original film “Scarlet” to its program. We summarize.

The approximately 111-minute film will be available on Netflix from May 17, 2026 in the original Japanese audio with German subtitles. The German dubbed version has not yet been explicitly confirmed.

Studio Chizu was responsible for the production of the evening filler, with Mamoru Hosoda (“The Girl Who Leapt Through Time”) directing and writing both the original story and the screenplay.

The cinema release took place on November 21, 2025 in Japan and on February 24, 2026 in Germany. A disc release will take place on May 28, 2026 by Sony Pictures (distributed by PLAION PICTURES) as a 4K steelbook and on Blu-ray.
