GTA 6: a leak revives the rumor of an episode set in the 1980s

Each new information on GTA 6 raises the pressure, and this time, it’s the soundtrack that sets things on fire. An American country singer says one of his songs from the 1980s will be featured in Grand Theft Auto VIimmediately relaunching the theory of an episode partially located in this cult decade.

Officially, Rockstar Games talks about a modern GTA, installed in the fictional state of Leonidasatirical version of current Florida, with a Vice City contemporary, social networks and “Florida Man” style memes. But the accumulation of 80s songs in the trailers, to which this leak is now added, gives another reading that players are not ready to let go of.

GTA 6: does Bobby Keel’s leak confirm the presence of a big country song from the 80s?

On Facebook, the country musician Bobby Keel claims that a song he co-wrote, “Need a Little Time Off for Bad Behavior”, will be featured in Grand Theft Auto VI. According to the post spotted by ComicBook, he writes that their song “will be featured in the Grand Theft Auto VI video game for release on November 19, 2026” and concludes that “it’s huge.” Difficult to make more explicit.

The song, emblematic of outlaw country from the mid-1980s, was popularized at the time by Hank Williams Jr, after having been signed in particular by David Allan Coe and Bobby Keel. We are far from an international pop hit, but perfectly in the register of a retro radio that GTA 6 loves putting the spotlight back on. The only problem is, if the mention of the date and game is accurate, Keel most likely broke a confidentiality agreement, which would explain why his post could disappear at any time.

GTA 6 80s: a simple marketing vibe or a real clue to the era of the game?

This leak adds to a communication already very marked by the eighties. The first trailer for GTA 6 is built on “Love Is a Long Road” by Tom Petty, released in 1989, while the second highlights “Hot Together” by the Pointer Sisters, dated 1986. As a result, these two titles saw their Spotify listenings explode, with five-figure jumps and a return to the iTunes Top 40 in several European countries, driven by the GTA effect.

Now add a mid-80s country song, and the soundtrack of GTA 6 looks more and more like a love letter to the eighties. However, nothing says that the main adventure abandons its contemporary setting. This musical selection could above all serve as a bridge to flashbacks, missions taking place in the past or, more simply, a radio entirely dedicated to this era, which Vice City players will turn on from their first night out.

GTA 6: release date, time frame and what this song can change in-game

The official information remains clear: Lucia Caminos And Jason Duvalthe criminal duo at the center of Grand Theft Auto VIoperate in a modern Florida, with influencers, live streams and very current crime. The State of Leonida megacity mix way Vice City and rural areas, a setting where an 80s country song could perfectly accompany a burglary mission on the roads or a gas station robbery in the middle of the swamps.

GTA 6 is expected on November 19, 2026 on PS5 And Xbox Series And Series S. Rockstar has not commented on Bobby Keel’s leak, and it is still unclear whether “Need a Little Time Off for Bad Behavior” will end up on an in-game radio, in a cutscene, or in a future trailer. One thing is certain, each new reference to the 1980s feeds a little more the fantasy of a return, even partial, to the atmosphere of the iconic Vice City.
