Silent since Uncharted 4 in 2016 and The Lost Legacy in 2017, the flagship license of Naughty Dog seemed stored in the trunk. However, a new very concrete leak around a secret project signed Shaun Escayg seriously relaunches the track of an Uncharted 5 in development on PS5.
Between a renowned insider who mentions a solo AAA led by Escayg and an Instagram post of the latter scouting in a colonial fort, the clues are starting to line up. Enough to give rise to the idea of a new Uncharted closer than we thought.
Uncharted 5 leak: can a simple Instagram photo change everything?
On April 3, 2026, Shaun Escayg posted a photo on Instagram of an old cannon overlooking a modern bay, accompanied by a simple “Research…”. Fans quickly identified the location: Fort Georgea British fort from 1804 on the heights of Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
This type of historical tracing fits perfectly with the method of Naughty Dog for its adventure games. The decor, a mix of colonial ruins and tropical panorama, looks like a screenshot straight out of a future Uncharted. The specialized site WCCFTech goes so far as to classify the return of the license as 75% “Probable”, based on this photo and the information already known about the studio’s secret project.
New Uncharted from Naughty Dog: what do the leaks really say?
In 2025, the insider DanielRPK claimed that Naughty Dog had been working for about three years on an unannounced single-player game, directed by Shaun Escayg, separate from both The Last of Us Part III andIntergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Several specialized French media immediately raised the possibility of a Uncharted 5.
In parallel, Neil Druckman has confirmed that it is producing an undisclosed second game, in addition toIntergalacticwithout specifying its nature. By combining these elements, many today see a new Uncharted led by Escayg, already creative director ofUncharted: The Lost Legacy. On networks and Reddit, discussions are exploding around a possible passing of the torch centered on Cassie Drake And Sam Drakerather than a complete return of Nathan Drake.
Uncharted 5 imminent: which hero, what timetable for the return of the saga?
