It’s not right to do that, Yoko Taro
Maybe it’s the bitter old curmudgeon in us talking, but announcing a new game Deny April Fool’s Day style is a bit cruel for fans of the saga who have been waiting for almost 10 years for the arrival of a “sequel” to NieR Automata. A teaser for a certain NieR: Cosmic Horror was revealed in the nightrevealing the mask of Emil (and Yoko Taro) alongside a strange creature. Everyone panicked when they saw the ad until they realized that April 1st started a little earlier than back home in Japan.
So certainly, Yoko Taro is deceitful enough to play with expectations, but we don’t expect this new Deny is anything other than an April Fool’s joke, even with all the optimism in the world. We could possibly think that this would lead to a real side project, but a game should probably be ruled out. We can imagine that a real new episode is in development, given that we have been assured that the series will continue. But the wait is now long, and this joke leads us to think that it will drag on even longer.
