Pokémon GO: Leak Reveals Item Capable of Automatic Capture

Since its launch in 2016, Pokémon GO has continued to evolve to adapt to the habits of its players. Between seasonal events, new features and connected accessories, Niantic’s augmented reality game continues to be renewed. With the “Moving Memories” season in full swing and Pokémon GO Fest 2026 approaching, one leak is drawing particular attention. It evokes a new object capable of radically simplifying the gaming experience.

Pokémon GO and this new automatic capture item

According to data discovered by dataminers PokeMiners, a new object called Explorer Gadget is in preparation. Its operation is based on complete automation of certain essential actions. Based on information taken from the game’s code, it’s described as “A gadget that automatically launches Poké Balls and spins PokéStops for you while you explore.” »

In other words, players could capture Pokémon and collect items without direct interaction. Even more surprising, this object would work even when the application is closed. However, a limitation would be provided: its use would only be possible once per day, which could make it a strategic tool rather than a permanent advantage.

A digital alternative to Pokémon GO Plus+

Until now, automatic capture has mainly relied on physical accessories like the Pokémon GO Plus+. Launched in 2023, this device already makes it possible to automate certain actions, but it remains paying and relatively expensive, with a price close to 100 dollars. The Explorer Gadget would be positioned as an alternative integrated directly into the game. It would offer similar functionality without requiring external equipment.

This development could democratize access to automatic capture, particularly for players who have not invested in official accessories.

A change that could transform the way we play

The arrival of such an object would not be trivial. It could profoundly change players’ relationship with Pokémon GO. So far, the game relies heavily on direct interaction: walking, throwing Poké Balls, visiting PokéStops. With partial automation, some actions would become passive. This could make daily progression easier, especially for players with limited time. Catching Pokémon in the background would become a new norm.

A feature that is still uncertain and potentially paid for

Despite the enthusiasm generated, this information should be taken with caution. The data comes from data mining, which means that the object could still evolve, or even never be deployed. Another question arises: its accessibility. Some recent items have been offered through paid passes or limited events, which could also be the case here.

In this context, the Explorer Gadget could become either an improvement accessible to all, or content reserved for some players.
