A central conflict between factions
Cost of Hope is a direct continuation of the main game with a parallel story that takes place at the same time as the events already known. We will thus find Skif, the protagonist, at the heart of a plot always marked by the consequences of your choices. As in the base game, the narrative will remain non-linear and your decisions will be able to lastingly influence the universe and its different factions.
The DLC will particularly highlight the opposition between two emblematic factions: Duty and Freedom. This conflict, already well anchored in the license, should here take on an unprecedented scale with broader issues and consequences which could go beyond the Zone itself. Cost of Hope will introduce two major new areas:
- The Chernobyl nuclear power plant, an iconic place previously inaccessible
- The “Iron Forest”, a dense region with labyrinthine paths
Each of these zones will offer its own activities, quests and hubs. This new extension is presented as substantial content and will offer around twenty hours of play.. Good news, it will integrate directly into your current game. Once installed, a signal on your PDA will trigger the new story as it progresses. Cost of Hope represents the central chapter of a second narrative trilogy for Stalker 2. The base game constituted the first act, while a third DLC will conclude this arc in the future.
Despite technical problems during its release, GSC Game World now seems to be on a cruising speed with a much more stable game than before. In any case, we can only advise you to embark on this open world with a unique atmosphere. Our test is still available if you want to know more.
Cost of Hope is expected this summer 2026 on Xbox Series, PlayStation 5 and PC.
