Media group RTL Deutschland announced today that it has signed an extensive licensing deal with Sony Pictures for anime content from the Crunchyroll streaming service. We summarize.
New anime for RTL+
The new agreement covers an undisclosed number of series as well »a variety of selected anime films«which will soon be released on RTL+ and the platform’s Prime Video Channel.
New titles include “Attack on Titan”, »My Hero Academia«, »Jujutsu Kaisen«, »Spy x Family«, “InuYasha”, »Kickers«, “Suzume” as well as films from the universes of »One Piece«, “Dragon Ball” and “Detective Conan”.

It is the second cooperation within a short period of time that shows the increasing relevance of anime in the German streaming market – just a few months ago, ProSiebenSat.1 also reached an agreement on Crunchyroll content.
Some popular anime titles can already be found on RTL+: “Hunter x Hunter”, “Yu-Gi-Oh!”, “Captain Tsubasa”, “Demon Slayer” and the films by Mamoru Hosoda. The first confirmed Crunchyroll additions are listed below.

“Attack on Titan”
The anime adaptation of “Attack on Titan” is soon with German language version RTL+ to see.
Action:
Humanity lives behind massive walls to protect itself from man-eating titans. But when a colossal titan breaks through the defenses, Eren, Mikasa and Armin begin a desperate fight for survival. In doing so, they gradually reveal dark truths about their world and themselves.
“Detective Conan” (films)
RTL+ takes soon several “Detective Conan”– Films in his program. It is still unclear which titles these are specifically.
Action:
17-year-old Shinichi Kudo is an exceptionally gifted detective who helps the police himself. After a poison attack, he suddenly shrinks into a child.
Under the name Conan Edogawa, he continues to secretly investigate in order to expose and bring down the Black Organization.
“Dragon Ball” (films)
Several films from the “Dragon Ball”-franchises are soon at RTL+ available. The specific titles are still pending.
Action:
Far away from civilization, Son Goku grows up carefree in the mountains. A mysterious ball reminds him of his foster father.
When Bulma shows up, he learns that it is a Dragon Ball. Together they set off on an adventurous journey and meet strange characters.
“InuYasha”
The fantasy series “InuYasha” can soon with German language version RTL+ be streamed.
Action:
On her 15th birthday, Kagome Higurashi is drawn through a well to feudal Japan. There she meets the half-demon Inuyasha and learns that the powerful jewel of four souls rests within her. When it shatters into splinters, they set off on a dangerous search.
»Jujutsu Kaisen« (series and film)
The anime adaptation of »Jujutsu Kaisen« as well as the film »Jujutsu Kaisen 0« stand soon at RTL+ available on demand.
Action:
High school student Yuji seems inconspicuous, but has enormous powers. While the sports clubs are desperate to recruit him, he prefers to spend his time in the paranormal club. When its members open a sealed cursed object, they unintentionally trigger a horrific horror.
»Kickers«
»Kickers« becomes soon with German language option RTL+ published. A specific date has not yet been announced.
Action:
After moving, Gregor wants to play football again immediately, but his new team, the Kickers, is on the verge of elimination: they are considered so weak that no one wants to play against them anymore.
Together with Captain Mario, he motivates the team again. Ultimately, a penalty duel decides whether the Kickers still have a chance.

The action comedy series »Spy x Family« is soon with a German language version and in the original sound with subtitles RTL+ available.

The master spy with the code name “Twilight” works for a more peaceful world through risky undercover missions. When he accepts a delicate assignment, he is faced with his greatest challenge yet: in order to complete the mission, he must quickly start a temporary family.
“Suzume”
The drama film “Suzume” expanded soon with German and Japanese dubbing the catalog of RTL+.
Action:
17-year-old Suzume travels through Japan’s disaster zones to seal mysterious doors that bring disaster. It all begins in Kyushu, where she encounters an enigmatic young man and a weathered door in ruins.
When portals suddenly open everywhere, Suzume must stop an impending catastrophe.
