Unity France will face a closure resulting from a layoff plan according to Origami

91 people affected

We all still remember the massive layoff carried out in January 2024 by Unity, leaving 1,800 people behind, or 25% of the teams at the time, and we must believe that no trace of the company will soon be left in France.

Indeed, according to journalist Gauthier Andres, Unity France will soon experience the closure of its offices. A dismissal procedure is underway and concerns 91 people, i.e. the entire staff. The eighth in four years in the company.

Based in Paris and designed in 2015, the French branch was particularly known for having been involved in important Unity tools: Graphics, HRDP (High Definition Rendering Pipeline) and VFX Graph (visual effects). Yes, but the members of Unity France will not escape the persistent logic of budget cuts, knowing that management seems to be doing everything for a month to prevent social dialogue with the team.

A situation that it is trying to combat, particularly supported by the voice of CGT Socetud and the sharing of a press release also demanding transparency on the current situation, the examination of alternatives to closure, or even “the guarantee of protection and reclassification measures commensurate with the group’s resources for all employees concerned”. As usual in such cases, we send our thoughts to those involved.
