Bluepoint’s God of War service game was to feature Atreus, the studio also pitched a spin-off of Ghost of Tsushima

Bluepoint scoured the PlayStation catalog to find one last chance

In his article, the journalist specifies that the service game God of War (which obviously did not excite many people within the studio) was mainly revolved around Atreus, the son of Kratos. The idea was to see him plunge into the Underworld (Greek, the kingdom of Hades as it were), and each player would have embodied a different version of Atreus to cooperate together towards the exit. Like any service game, regular monitoring of the title was planned. But the game never really managed to take shape.

Jason Schreier also specifies that the idea of developing a God of War spin-off would allow the series to somehow have its own (small) shared universe, such as a Marvel Cinematic Universe. An idea that is enough to make some fans shudder, but which seems to be (fortunately?) buried today).

Following this failure in January 2025, Bluepoint Games would therefore have turned to the remake of Bloodbornebefore encountering reluctance from FromSoftware. This wasn’t the only pitch attempted by the studio, however. Bluepoint wanted to draw from the catalog of other PlayStation Studios, since, after God of War, he would have been interested in Ghost of Tsushima to produce a spin-off. Schreier does indicate that several PlayStation licenses were approached with this idea, but nothing ever really came to fruition. The studio would have even presented an updated version of its own remake of Shadow of the Colossuswhich shows to what extent Bluepoint was against the wall.

Sony then believed that the studio was no longer able to produce a solo game, and had no other projects to entrust to it as a support studio to keep it busy, which sealed the fate of Bluepoint.
