New images for Netflix’s “One Piece” remake revealed

Chinese animation studio Huahan Animation recently revealed its involvement in the highly anticipated anime remake of “One Piece” – along with some images from the production. We summarize below.

Constant progress

Although the Netflix remake entitled “The One Piece” was announced in December 2023, apart from some initial concept illustrations and information about the production team, there are so far few concrete details about the elaborate reinterpretation of Eiichiro Oda’s internationally acclaimed work.

In particular, the lack of new information at the “Jump Festa 2026” in December 2025 caused frustration among numerous fans. However, in a letter read out there, Oda assured that the work is progressing continuously.

Now there has been at least a little movement in the matter, as it was announced via a Chinese government social media account that the Huahan Animation studio based there is involved in the production. There are also new production materials, which you can check out below.

Studio WIT is primarily responsible for Netflix’s new “One Piece” series, with Masashi Koizuka (“Moonrise”) directing and Hideaki Abe acting as assistant director. The screenplay comes from Taku Kishimoto (“Sakamoto Days”).
