There are still a few days until the March 2026 PlayStation Plus free games are officially announced, but Sony has already gotten a head start. On February 20, 2026, the Japanese publisher confirmed the arrival of a first title in the catalog next month. An announcement which directly concerns PS Plus Premium subscribers and which revives a cult fighting game franchise.
While the games offered in February – Undisputed, Subnautica: Below Zero, Ultros and Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown – are preparing to leave the selection, players were waiting to know the new wave of March. If the full list will be revealed next week, a classic has already been made official: Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection will join the service on March 17, 2026.
Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection joins the PS Plus Classics catalog
Initially released in 2006 on PSP, Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection was then ported to PlayStation 3. The version integrated into PlayStation Plus will be the one from Sony’s portable console, now playable on PS5 and PS4 via the section dedicated to Classics.
This precision is important. Games from the PSP automatically enter the Classics category, which means that they are reserved for PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers. Players with Essential or Extra offers will therefore not be able to access it.
In recent months, only one retro title has joined this section. There is no indication yet that another vintage PlayStation game will complete the catalog in March. The addition of Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection therefore appears to be the only retro novelty announced at this stage.
A Tekken franchise almost entirely available on PS5
The arrival of Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection isn’t just about nostalgia. It marks a further step in the complete availability of the saga on modern consoles. Before him, Tekken 2, Tekken 3 and Tekken 6 had already been re-released on the PlayStation Store and integrated into PlayStation Plus. Now, only Tekken and Tekken 4 are not yet accessible on PS5. This almost completeness reinforces the attractiveness of the Premium service, particularly for fans of fighting games. The Tekken series is one of the major franchises of the genre, and its expanded availability simplifies access to old episodes without relying on retro hardware.
Tekken and Tekken 4 soon on PlayStation?
Sony’s editorial logic suggests a possibility: seeing Tekken and Tekken 4 in turn join the catalog in the months or years to come. No official announcement has been made to this effect. However, taking into account the previous progressive reissues, the hypothesis seems coherent. If these two episodes were to be added, the series would then be fully playable on PS5 and PS4 via Sony’s digital platforms. While awaiting the full announcement of PlayStation Plus games for March 2026, Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection already constitutes a strong signal for Premium subscribers, confirming Sony’s desire to gradually enrich its retro catalog.
