The Unbound promises to be a gacha RPG, but without microtransactions

A classic RPG sprinkled with a little randomness

Zanerdin: The Unbound looks at first glance like an “old-school” RPG, with classic turn-based combat (the first images suggest the Lost Odyssey influence). We play Zanerdin, a man born without power in a world where this is not common.

On Kalatos, people are born gaining protection from one of the six elements (Fire, Water, Metal, Wind, Lightning, Earth), except those found in the Chaos region. Zanerdin will still have to go on an adventure despite his lack of blessing to discover the truth about his past and his family.

Then comes the “gacha” part to the wholewith more than 25 playable characters in addition to around ten animals to collect. But since it will be a premium game, therefore paying, Zanerdin: The Unbound will not ask you to checkout again to unlock its content.

Instead, good old grind, with dungeons and raids to beat bosses and get the currency needed for the gacha game. This is not the first time that this type of system has been implemented in an RPG (we think of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 which also had a small gacha part), but in a world where free-to-play abounds, this could almost turn into a selling point.

Zanerdin: The Unbound will be available on PC and PlayStation 5, at a date still unknown.
