Pokémon Pokopia already surpasses Pokémon Legends: ZA on one key point

At first glance, comparing a spin-off to a mainline Pokémon title may seem unbalanced. Pokémon Legends: ZA stands out as one of the major releases in the franchise, with its new mechanics and its narrative ambition. However, Pokémon Pokopia, a life simulation game developed by Koei Tecmo and Game Freak, could well steal the show in one essential area: the number of creatures available from launch.

According to a screenshot relayed by Centro Leaks on X, the Pokémon Pokopia Pokédex has at least 284 entries. The detail is intriguing: the image shows Espeon in position 284, while this Eevolution generally never appears at the end of the Pokédex. This suggests that the total would well exceed 300 Pokémon.

A more extensive Pokédex than that of Legends: ZA at launch

For comparison, Pokémon Legends: ZA offers 232 Pokémon in its base game. Its Mega-Dimension DLC adds 130 additional creatures, bringing the total to 362 for players who own the expansion.

Taking only the basic versions into account, Pokémon Pokopia would therefore already exceed Pokémon Legends: ZA in number of creatures available at launch. Even if the exact figure has not yet been officially confirmed, reaching or exceeding 300 entries constitutes a particularly large volume for a spin-off.

It obviously remains possible that Pokémon Pokopia will benefit from additional content after its release. But as information currently stands, he is ahead of his main counterpart in terms of the initial wealth of his Pokédex.

Classic Pokémon and new variants

Promotional materials and gameplay clips have confirmed the presence of many iconic creatures. Among them are Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Eevee and its evolutions, Lucario, Greninja and Mimikyu.

The Kanto region seems particularly highlighted, with a strong representation of first generation Pokémon. However, several later generations are also present.

Pokémon Pokopia also introduces new variants, never seen before in the franchise, such as Professor Tangrowth, Peakychu or Mosslax. These additions strengthen the game’s own identity and further enrich its catalog.

An ambitious spin-off in the Pokémon universe

Pokémon Pokopia adopts a hybrid formula combining life simulation, management and collection. Inspired by games like Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing, it invites players to build a Pokémon-friendly town.

However, completing the Pokédex remains a central pillar of the experience, faithful to the tradition of the license. With more than 1,000 Pokémon existing in the franchise, offering a roster exceeding 300 creatures constitutes a strong argument.

Scheduled for March 5, 2026, Pokémon Pokopia seems to want to establish itself as a particularly rich spin-off from its launch. If its final Pokédex confirms these figures, it could well mark a turning point in the place of derivative games within the Pokémon universe.
