While speculation around a “Sims 5” is rife, Maxis has taken the lead: The Sims 4 isn’t ready to bow out yet. Alongside the mysterious Project Reneplanned as a mobile extension of the Sims universe, the studio continues to enrich the fourth opus, which has just passed 10 years of existence. The objective seems clear: to maintain the interest of the players while initiating a smooth transition towards a future generation of the franchise.

A prestigious collaboration with Coach comes to the game

In a free update deployed this January 13, 2026, Maxis introduces an unexpected but very stylish collaboration with Coachthe American leather goods and ready-to-wear brand.

  • 9 new objects
  • 65 variations of styles and colors
  • Exclusive clothing for The Sims
  • Content for Buy and Create a Sim mode

Maxis specifies that this collection aims to combine “the know-how of Coach with the creativity of The Sims”.

New characters to download in the Gallery

Two new creations are available for free:

  • The piece “In the Bag”
  • “The Carriage House” with :
    • Jonie Sac (he/him) : sports musician fan of K-pop
    • Brooke Lynne (iel) : between gaming and offbeat looks
    • Selena Zhiwei (she/her) : romantic and independent artist

Towards a visual and technical renewal?

Fans are speculating about an intermediate version — a Sims 4.5 — which would propose:

  • A more open world
  • Dynamic neighborhoods
  • A modernized technical base
  • A graphic overhaul

This free update is seen as a strong signal: Maxis remains attentive to its community and wants to offer more than paid DLC.
