The technical basis of these leaks is the complete decompilation carried out by the community Zeldaret end of 2025. To simplify, the GameCube game code has been recreated line by line, which allows it to be recompiled like a classic PC program, without using an emulator. Result: more freedom over resolution, framerate and inputs.

The videos of Courage Reborn relayed by the specialized press already show the introduction of Twilight Princess in stable 60 fps, where the original ran at 30 fps. We see a 16:9 or even ultrawide display, a much cleaner image than on Wii U, as well as a modern options menu to adjust graphics, controls and some comfort parameters.

Courage Reborn and Dusk: what will these two PC ports bring to Twilight Princess?

First project to show its muscles, Courage Reborn targets PC, mobile and even Nintendo Switch modified via homebrew. On the program: unlocked resolution, 60 native fps with adapted game logic, keyboard mouse support, gyroscope and joysticks. The port also includes in-game menus and immediate compatibility with mods and high-definition texture packs.

For his part, Dusk is developed by veterans of the decompilation scene. Its flagship promise: a framerate of up to 120 fps thanks to an interpolation of the skeleton of the models, the game calculating intermediate poses to smooth the animation. The project also adds a Wii-style mirror mode, ultrawide support and several options inspired by Twilight Princess HDlike larger purses.

Twilight Princess on PC: when will we be able to play it, and with what risks?

The developers remain cautious and mention a beta “in the coming months” without a precise date. The builds shown in the video already seem very advanced, but the team at Courage Reborn is still recruiting programmers and plans to release the code as open source once stability is deemed sufficient.

Legally, the two ports do not distribute any files. Nintendo : to launch Twilight Princessyou will need to provide your own GameCube disk image, taken from a copy you already own.
