Yoshihisa Kishimoto, the creator of Double Dragon and Kunio-Kun (River City), has died

One of the emblematic figures of beat’em up is leaving

Yoshihisa Kishimoto is known for having had quite a career, and for having created two major series. The first is Double Dragonwhich was very popular in the late 80s/early 90s, iconic license of the beat’em all genre which has influenced many licenses across generations. A series which even continues to exist today with Double Dragon Reviveeven if Yoshihisa Kishimoto signed his last episode with the fourth opus.

We also owe him the series Kunio-Kunnot really known by that name here, but rather under the name Renegade or even River City. She also continues to give birth to new episodes quite regularly, a sign that the work of the Japanese artist has survived the ages, which is not given to everyone. In short, a beat’em up legend to whom the genre owes a lot, and who mourns it today.

All our thoughts are with his family and loved ones.
