Xbox tries to justify the rise in the price of the Xbox Game Pass by highlighting the new content

More games and services, even if they are not necessarily desired

Dustin Blackwell, gaming and communication director at Microsoft, spoke with The Verge when changing changes for the Xbox Game Pass. It is naturally the question of the Ultimate level price which was put forward, given that it goes from € 17.99 to € 26.99 (from 20 to 30 dollars in the United States). Blackwell recognizes that price increase is never pleasant for the public, but Xbox intends to justify it ::

“” We understand that price increases are never pleasant, but we try to enrich these offers to bring more value. We do not take this lightly, and we listen to the feedback from players and the community to try to offer them more services. »»

Among the offers offered, More “Day One” games on this service, with around 75 games per year, which would be 50% higher than what we find today inside the subscription. And Blackwell also tries to put the additions of Ubisoft+ Classics and Fortnite Crew forward:

“” With Fortnite Crew and Ubisoft Plus Classics, these combined add about $ 28 per month of value to Ultimate subscribers »»

If the inclusion of Ubisoft+ can defend itself, that of Fortnite Crew is still difficult to understand in a subscription such as the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, since the subscribers may not be fond of the Epic Games. Blackwell also evokes the case of the Game Pass which was a little put aside when it is also entitled to an increase in its price. And without the Ubisoft+ on its side, even if it promises that 50 Ubisoft games join this level, while indicating that subscribers will always be entitled to Day One games (which will not be the case on the Game Pass Essentials and Premium).
