With its two new episodes, the Dispatch game shows that word of mouth has worked well

The audience grows from episode to episode

AdHoc Studio took the gamble of remaining on the format of episodic releases for Dispatchbut by offering a much more sustained pace, namely two episodes per week. Which convinced part of the public to try the title as soon as the first two episodes were released given that the wait would not be very long to get the sequel. A strategy which is paying off today, because between the release of the first two episodes, and that of episodes 3 & 4, the game has been talked about quite a bit.

This is evidenced by the game’s attendance figures on Steam. So of course, this data for a narrative game like this is not the most relevant in normal times, but a rather remarkable phenomenon occurred here. When the first two episodes were launched, the game had reached a peak attendance of around 12,700 people simultaneously. An honorable score for a new license. But since then, like a good TV series, word of mouth obviously worked, because for the release of the two new episodes, the game did 5 times better peaking at almost 66,000 simultaneous connections.

The wait between episodes will therefore have allowed the game to get people talking about it to consolidate its community, which is now waiting for the rest of the season. As a reminder, episodes 5 & 6 of Dispatch will be released on November 5, while episodes 7 & 8 (the last) will be available from November 12.
