Wake of the Water, the most ambitious update of the open-world survival game, will be released on November 10

Home stretch with version 1.0 and the release on consoles

Launched in early access in January 2024, Enshrouded has not only been very well received by PC players, but has also been enriched enormously with each update. As a reminder, we are in front of an open world survival game which combines exploration, construction, combat and RPG in a post-apocalyptic universe invaded by a mysterious fog.

This new update called Wake of the Water marks a pivotal step for the game. It is not only the biggest content deployed since the launch of early access according to Keen Games, but also a major preamble to version 1.0still expected for 2026 on PC and consoles.

Since the launch of Enshrouded, the lack of a real water simulation was one of the most common complaints from the community. The developers therefore decided to respond directly to this request with a dynamic water system based on voxel technology, designed to integrate with the game’s terraforming mechanics.

Players will be able to:

  • Swim in newly generated rivers, lakes or swamps.
  • Shape the land to divert or channel water.
  • Build around or under water, whether for aesthetics or for defensive bases.
  • Fish, water their plantations, or even trap enemies in hostile environments.

We are also told that the water will represent a danger. You should not stay submerged for too long or risk being drowned or overwhelmed by aquatic enemies.

Reworked combat and enriched wildlife

Another pillar of this update: complete combat rebalancing. Keen Games promised this in a previous video and this promise comes true with Wake of the Water.

Here are the major improvements announced:

  • Complete overhaul of the combat interface for a more intuitive playback.
  • Rebalanced weapons, armor and spells, with adjustments to cooldowns, damage and effects.
  • Added new abilities and skills to enrich character builds.
  • Introduced Greatswords, powerful, wide-reaching weapons intended for aggressive playstyles.
  • Better management of regeneration and buffs, with clearer effects on screen.
  • Smoother animations and more satisfying impacts, according to tester feedback.

The game also places great importance on its living ecosystem, and Wake of the Water update adds new aquatic and terrestrial species of which :

  • Capybaras: peaceful animals that can be tamed and brought back to your base.
  • Wetland Snapjaws: hostile creatures that lurk in swampy areas.
  • Crabs, new fish and other inhabitants of aquatic areas.

The update, Wake of the Water, for Enshrouded will be released on November 10, 2025 on PC.
