Ubisoft launches a restructuring plan at Ubisoft Massive (The Division, Star Wars Outlaws) and at RedLynx (Trials)

Ubisoft Massive asks for volunteers

First, it was the announcement of a restructuring of RedLynx which was announced at Ubisoft, with the aim of reducing costs. Negotiations should start on October 30 and end in November. In total, 60 positions are jeopardized by such actionthe latter having a clear objective: transform Redlynx into a studio specializing in mobile games. Two unannounced game projects are even already in development within the studio. Céline Pasula, director of the studio, declares:

We are confident that with the proposed changes, RedLynx will continue to play an important role in Ubisoft’s future, driving technical excellence on mobile devices and strengthening Ubisoft’s cross-platform capabilities on small screens to expand our audience. »

Alongside this announcement, Le Figaro indicates for its part that a voluntary departure plan has been put in place within the Ubisoft Massive studio (open until December 15), which is nevertheless one of the group’s most recognized studios. But the failures of Star Wars Outlaws And Avatar: Frontier of Pandora have done a lot of harm, and Ubisoft also wants to reduce costs in this branch.

The volunteers would benefit from compensation and training, and would mainly target employees with a permanent contract who are waiting to be transferred to another project. A way for Ubisoft to avoid massive layoffs directly itself, even if this obviously depends on the results of the plan. In short, expect more layoffs at the publisher in the weeks and months to come.
