The title of the new “Fairy Tail” manga is causing initial speculation

To mark the 20th anniversary of “Fairy Tail,” Hiro Mashima has announced a new manga for the popular fantasy series. As part of the French comic festival Rendez-Vous de la Bande Dessinée d’Amiens, the series creator revealed further details. We summarize below.

Laxus in the spotlight

The new short series is called “Re:FANTASIA” and will revolve around the popular S-Class magician Laxus Dreyar. The first chapter of the story will appear on July 29, 2026 in issue 35/2026 of the “Weekly Shonen Magazine”.

Mashima didn’t want to reveal too many details, but promised an extraordinary story and expressed the hope that fans will enjoy the new adventure. The title “Re:FANTASIA” is already causing speculation within the fan community.

Some readers suspect that it could be a reference to the Fantasia parade in Magnolia. This annual festival played an important role, particularly during the Battle of Fairy Tail arc, and was closely linked to Laxus’ character development.

The original “Fairy Tail” manga appeared in “Weekly Shonen Magazine” from August 2006 to July 2017 and was collected into a total of 63 anthologies. The anime adaptation counts 328 episodes as well as several specials and films.
