The success of Mewgenics is confirmed, the game has already reached one million sales

An unexpected success for its creators

In just a few hours, the development of Mewgenics had been refunded. 150,000 copies of the game were distributed on the first day of marketing of the title, which was already enough for Edmund McMillen and Tyler Glaiel (The End is Nigh). A week later, the game celebrates its first million salessomething the duo was far from expecting, at least not so quickly.

This is what Tyler Glaiel confirmed on his social networks, explaining that the game had “only” 400,000 wishlists before its release (which remains enormous), rising to 600,000 after the publication of the tests. Figures which suggested that the game would sell at a fraction of this score:

Some fun stats. Mew had around 400,000 wishlists before the tests were published. That figure skyrocketed to around 600,000 after testing was released and before the game’s release. For those who thought its success was predictable given its reputation, first-week sales are usually a fraction of wishlist additions. So, we were both a little surprised! »

The excellent feedback about Mewgenics have certainly helped it accelerate its sales, and this box is probably not slowing down any time soon.
