»The Drops of God« is getting an anime adaptation + teaser


With the opening of an official website, it was announced today that the manga series “The Drops of God” (Japanese: “Kami no Shizuku”) is receiving an anime adaptation in the form of a TV series. You can find a first teaser below.

»The Drops of God« is directed by Kenji Itoso (“Space Idol”) at Studio Satelight. Yuu Mitsuru is writing the script, while Soudai Suwa (“Reign of the Seven Spellblades”) is contributing the character design.

The main roles of the Japanese voice cast include idol and actor Kazuya Kamenashi as Shizuku Kanzaki and Takuya Satou (Oswald Parnacorta in “The Too-Perfect Saint”) as Issei Tomine. Maaya Uchida voices Miyabi Shinohara. The series is expected to launch in Japan sometime next year.

The original manga series of the same name written by Tadashi Agi, which already served as a template for a live-action Apple TV series with Kamenashi in the lead role, was published in 44 volumes from November 2004 to 2014 with drawings by Shuu Okimoto.

After Kanzaki’s death, his will reveals that his wine treasure does not automatically go to his son, who prefers to work in a beer company. In order to preserve the inheritance, Shizuku must compete with a talented critic to identify twelve “heaven-sent” wines based solely on poetic descriptions.
