Dive into the biggest nightmares
After a Ring of Elysium unnoticed, Gray State Studio and Tencent are tackling Rules of Engagement: The Gray Statea PvPvE FPS playable solo or with others, with RPG mechanics, which also delves into horror. An ambitious cocktail in which you play as a Strider, an elite agent responsible for exploring the Gray State, a nightmarish dimension also called the “Horrorverse”. This is where we will meet creatures inspired by major horror licenses, whether from novels, films or urban legends.
The game takes some extraction-shooter mechanics by giving you a limited time within areas, and asking you to go hunt the next creature or retreat to an extraction point to keep your loot. Agents are divided into several classes, three of which have already been revealed:
- Sledge: The ultimate tank with an abacus and a large hammer
- Pyro: The arsonist
- Phantom: An assassin who works in the shadows
Gray State Studio declares that it wants to maintain the game over several years, with an economic model that is not very intrusive in that the items to be purchased will be purely cosmetic. Rules of Engagement: The Gray State is scheduled for 2026, with a confirmed release only on PC for now. The Steam page is already open.
