Fans of Studio TRIGGER can look forward to a new anime from director Hiroyuki Imaishi and screenwriter Kazuki Nakashima, which was announced at Anime Expo 2026. This is the fourth joint production for the well-rehearsed creative duo. We summarize.
Details are still pending
The new project is a yet untitled anime. Whether this will be released as a series, film or special is currently unknown, as are details about the plot, other actors or the release date.
The only thing that is certain is that the anime will be created under the creative leadership of Hiroyuki Imaishi and Kazuki Nakashima. The two previously worked together on the anime hits “Gurren Lagann” (2007), “KILL la KILL” (2013) and “Promare” (2019). The renewed collaboration at Studio TRIGGER builds on the long-standing success story of the two anime creators.
The animation studio TRIGGER was founded in 2011 and made a name for itself with titles such as “Little Witch Academia”, “SSSS.GRIDMAN”, “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners” and most recently “Delicious in Dungeon”.
The studio’s other projects include “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners II”, which will appear on Netflix in autumn 2026, and the second season of “Delicious in Dungeon”, which is scheduled to start in October 2027.
