Darth Maul finally returns to the front lines. In spring 2026, the most iconic Sith apprentice will be entitled to his own animated series, Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lordproduced by Lucasfilm Animation. Announced for years and teased by a very dark trailer, the project promises to follow the criminal rise of Maul far from the usual space battles. Created by Dave Filoniwith Matt Michnovetz And Brad Rau in development, the series comes after The Clone Wars and plunges the fallen Sith into the depths of the galaxy. Star Wars: Maul – Lord of the Shadows: when exactly is the series released on Disney+ in France?
In France, Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord arrives on Disney+ THE Monday April 6, 2026. As for the other series Star Warsthe platform applies a global online release based on the American time zone, which corresponds to an output to 9 a.m. French time.
The first episodes will be available from this time in VF and in VOSTin line with previous Lucasfilm productions. It will therefore be enough to connect to Disney+ on the morning of April 6 to discover Maul in his new animated incarnation.

Maul – Lord of Shadows on Disney+: plot, atmosphere and post-series for Star Wars fans
The story takes place immediately after The Clone Warsat the beginning of the Empire, while Maul attempts to rebuild his crime syndicate on a planet still untouched by Palpatine. Disney+ summarizes the series as follows: “There, he crosses paths with a young disillusioned Jedi Padawan who could well be the apprentice he is looking for in fulfilling his relentless quest for revenge…”. On the program, clashes with the Inquisitors and total immersion in the criminal world which will lead to the Scarlet Dawn seen in the film Solo.
Visually, Maul – Shadow Lord relies on a very elaborate, more “painted” animation, to stick to the nocturnal and industrial atmosphere of the slums. Carried by the return of Sam Witwer with the original voice of Maul, the project is already presented as a 10-episode mini-series, but has been renewed for a season 2. Included in the Disney+ subscription, the series will remain available in the catalog, enough to continue binge-watching once the ten episodes have been released or relive the journey of the Sith every Star Wars Day.
