Jesse takes his break
In Control Resonantit’s Dylan who takes the lead and will go hunting for supernatural things. Jesse, protagonist of the first game, will obviously remain central to the story of this sequel, but Remedy wanted to be clear: Jesse will absolutely not be playable in this episode. So don’t expect any surprises or anything else, since Thomas Puha, head of communications at the studio, declared this bluntly (comments relayed by Eurogamer):
“ I want to clarify things up front, as we’ve seen a lot of speculation online […] In this specific case, I would like to confirm that Jesse Faden will not be a playable character in Control Resonant »
A way to temper certain expectations while avoiding disappointments. After all, since the gameplay changes significantly, it’s only fitting that Jesse stays behind here. Remedy also reiterated that Control Resonant is an action-RPG that emphasizes melee combat, drawing its inspiration more from beat’em all than from Souls-like.
Still according to Eurogamer, we understand that aggression will be encouraged here since it will restore Dylan’s abilities, while there will be no parry systemas Miika Huttunen, senior manager, explains:
“ The more close combat you favor, the more tools you have to maintain control. It’s a virtuous circle designed to reward initiative and fluidity. Different playstyles are also fully compatible. For example, you can opt for a build focused on close combat or favor a more tactical approach with summons like turrets, which attack independently and inflict status ailments. »
We also have confirmation that the game will only have one endingeven if a dialogue choice system will be present.
Control Resonant will be available in 2026 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series.
