The February collection of free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers is enriched with a particularly popular title: Subnautica: Below Zeroan open-world survival game set in the icy depths of an ocean planet, is available at no cost to all PS5 (and PS4) users, PS Plus subscribers, until March 3, 2026. A bonus limited in time, but permanent if you add it to your library before the deadline. Provided, of course, that you maintain an active subscription.
A spin-off that has become cult, between exploration and narration
Initially intended as DLC for the first Subnautica released in 2018, Below Zero quickly became a title in its own right, developed by Unknown Worlds Entertainment. This second part propels players into a polar region of planet 4546B, even more hostile than in the first game.
The gameplay combines underwater exploration, resource collection, base construction, and above all survival in the face of increasingly unpredictable wildlife. But where Below Zero innovate, it’s in the integration of a real narrative frameworkdenser and more present than in its predecessor. A choice that appealed to many players preferring a directed adventure to a simple sandbox survival.
A limited offer not to be missed on the PS Store
Available for purchase at €30 normally, Subnautica: Below Zero is offered free until March 3 via PS Plus. All subscription levels are affected: Essential, Extra and Premium. Once downloaded, the game remains linked to your account as long as your subscription is active. You will therefore not need to pay again once the offer expires, as long as you remain a member. The operation also concerns PS4 players, since the title is cross-gen.
What are the ratings and reviews for Subnautica: Below Zero?

A score equivalent to a Metacritic rating of 90 according to user aggregation, proof that the game has found its audience despite a slightly different formula.
Why now is a good time to dive
If you’ve never put your fins into the Subnautica series, now is the perfect time. In addition to this free game, Subnautica 2 is expected in early access this yearand should push the narrative and technical aspect even further.
Below Zero remains today one of the rare games to combine immersive survival, sophisticated soundscape, environmental narration and striking aquatic settings. An experience to live with headphones on… and a full oxygen reserve.
