PS5: this hilarious game is playable for free for certain players

It sometimes happens that a game arrives without making any noise… and yet creates a surprise. This is exactly what has just happened on PlayStation Plus, with the discreet addition of a new title available for free to subscribers.

This game is not a total novelty, but an improved version of an already known title. Hello Neighbor, initially released in 2018 on PS4, returns today to PS5 with several technical improvements that change the experience.

Hello Neighbor on PS5, an intriguing free game

Behind its colorful appearance, Hello Neighbor hides a much more original mechanic than it seems. The player embodies Nicky Roth, a curious character who decides to investigate his neighbor, Theodore Peterson.

The objective is simple in appearance: break into his house and discover what he is hiding in his basement. But each attempt becomes more complex, as the neighbor learns and adapts to the player’s actions.

This evolving artificial intelligence transforms each game into a different challenge. The paths taken can become trapped, and the player’s habits are quickly anticipated.

A smoother and more immersive PS5 version

With its arrival on PlayStation 5, Hello Neighbor benefits from notable improvements. The game now runs at 60 frames per second, providing a smoother experience. Support for 4K and HDR also improves visual rendering, with more detailed textures, richer environments and reworked lighting. These adjustments allow you to rediscover the game in better conditions, especially for those who had already played it on PS4.

A game that divides but still appeals today

When it was released, Hello Neighbor was not unanimously acclaimed. Reviews were mixed, notably due to some bugs and design choices. Over time, the game has evolved. On Steam, it now has a “Very Positive” score, with 83% favorable reviews. Some players describe the experience very bluntly: “Hello Neighbor is a happy mess, as stressful as it is awesome”

Others highlight its atypical side: “This game is crazy. But that’s what makes it so charming, in my opinion. No need for fancy graphics, first-person shooters or multiplayer. The graphics fit the art style perfectly. There are a few bugs and technical issues, but for me, that’s what makes it fun and hilarious.”

A discreet addition that may be worth the detour

Available at no additional cost to PlayStation Plus subscribers, Hello Neighbor is an easy-to-test option. This type of discreet addition reminds us that the catalog can hold surprises, even without massive communication.

Between humor, infiltration and unpredictable situations, the game offers a different experience, far from classic productions, and could well intrigue those looking for something less conventional.
