PS5: this free game inspired by God of War is a hit, don’t miss it

Downloadable for free from the PlayStation Store, Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel attracts the curious with its atmosphere inspired by Norse mythology and its intense arena combat. In this nervous roguelike, the waves of enemies never stop arriving, promising short but muscular gaming sessions.

Published by Games Farm and ARTillery, this independent game combines brutal action, personalized progression and mythological trials to overcome. The visual style, although distinct, will undoubtedly remind more than one player of God of War, while the gameplay evokes references like Hades II or Ball X Pit. And good news: a demo is available free of charge to get an idea before purchasing.

A hellish arena to cross, blessed by the gods

Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel immerses the player in a world where he plays a damned hero, condemned to face mythological creatures one after the other. Each level is structured into waves of enemies and ends with a boss to eliminate in order to move forward. According to the developer, the game is “a captivating roguelike survival game, where you face hordes of enemies, with exceptional graphics. Choose one of the damned heroes and try to pass the test of the gods by fighting waves of mythical adversaries. If you triumph over all the tests, you will become the chosen one of the Jotunnslayer.”

Between two fights, the player accesses a progression system which allows him to personalize his skills, his weapons and his bonuses in a very free way. This mechanic encourages experimentation to create your own style of play, especially in the more difficult levels.

A free trial before committing

The game is currently priced at a reasonable £15.99 for the standard edition, while the Collector’s Edition, with additional content, retails for £21.99. For those who are undecided, a free demo is available now on PS5 via the PlayStation Store. An excellent opportunity to discover this promising title without spending a cent.
