“PS5 users can get one of the best first-person shooters of all time for just $6.” This unexpected good plan concerns Wolfenstein II: The New Colossussigned MachineGames and published by Bethesda. Originally released in 2017 on PS4, this game remains one of the best single-player titles in the genre to this day.
To benefit from it, you don’t need a PlayStation Plus subscription. Just go to the PlayStation Store. But be careful, “this PlayStation Store offer expires on January 22, in five days.” Then the price will rise to €39.99.
Why this game deserves your attention in 2026
Wolfenstein II made an impression upon its release. Awarded at the 2017 Game Awards in the “Best Action Game” category, it was also nominated for its artistic direction, storyline and voice performance. With a score of 87 on Metacritic, it is one of the best FPS ever produced on PlayStation.
But what really sets it apart is its 100% solo orientation. “Its single-player campaign is one of the best in the history of the genre.” In an era where multiplayer reigns, this return to narrative and intense gameplay makes all the difference.
A saga to (re)discover before the sequel?
The game is a direct sequel to Wolfenstein: The New Order (2014), equally acclaimed by critics. Unfortunately, this first episode is not currently on promotion, just like its standalone extension The Old Bloodboth offered at €19.99.
Another title from the franchise on sale: Wolfenstein: Youngbloodavailable at €6 in Deluxe edition. But let’s say it frankly: it is vastly inferior to its predecessors, and was one of the most criticized games of 2019.
One last look before the promo ends
It’s hard to do better: a great game, complete, intense, without the need for a subscription or microtransactions, for the price of a sandwich. Given Bethesda’s positioning in recent years, this 85% discount may not return anytime soon. If you missed Wolfenstein II when it comes out, now might be the perfect time to check it out.
