Two renowned titles are discreetly landing on PS5 via PlayStation Plus. Tech updates, free upgrades and exclusive bonuses: here’s everything you need to know.
In the shadow of the November monthly selection, two recent additions to the PlayStation Plus catalog enrich the offer without having been particularly highlighted. It is about The Long Dark And PUBG: Battlegroundstwo first-person survival games that now benefit from redesigned PS5 versions. Their immediate availability and technical improvements should delight subscribers, provided they don’t miss out.
The Long Dark and PUBG come to PS5 with PlayStation Plus
It was via a message on BlueSky that Hinterland Studios announced the good news: “Players! We are excited to announce that the PS5 version of THE LONG DARK is now available!” Better yet, no barrier to entry for subscribers: “This includes both the standalone version and the free upgrade for everyone who owns the PS4 version (including PlayStation Plus subscribers).”
For his part, PUBG: Battlegrounds is also coming to PS5, accompanied by an exclusive pack reserved for PS Plus subscribers. This bundle contains five hunter chests, five keys, 80 contraband coupons and a pixel art parachute. A godsend for fans of loot and customization, especially in a competitive game like this.
But be careful, this transition has a downside: players on PS4 can no longer access PUBG. PUBG Studios justifies this choice by technical issues: “In order to provide our players with a more stable gaming environment on console and to ensure a smoother, uninterrupted experience with future updates, we have decided to upgrade to current generation consoles.” They add: “As a result of this transition, console players will benefit from improved graphics and a more stable frame rate. Additionally, we plan to reduce persistent crashing issues through memory-related optimizations.”
Two discreet but solid additions for PS Plus subscribers
With these two titles, Sony continues to strengthen the interest of its subscription service. The Long Darkwith its glacial atmosphere and immersive narration, gains in fluidity on PS5. As for PUBGits native arrival on the new generation console marks a strategic turning point for its survival in the face of competition.
These additions are not part of the monthly titles traditionally highlighted, but they are indeed available for download now. For attentive subscribers, this is the ideal opportunity to discover or rediscover two significant experiences, without spending a cent more.
