Launched to celebrate the first anniversary of Pokémon TCG Pocket, the Mega Rising expansion puts Mega Evolutions back at the heart of the game with powerful cards to collect from October 30.
It’s official: one year after its launch, Pokémon TCG Pocket has a new expansion focused on Mega Evolutions. Expected for October 30, 2025, Mega Rising will mark the return of iconic Pokémon in their most formidable forms, through three new boosters dedicated to Mega Gyarados, Mega Braziken and Mega Altaria.
Developed by DeNA and Creatures Inc. for The Pokémon Company, this expansion succeeds Apex Genetics, the base set of the mobile game. It also introduces Rare Crown cards dedicated to each of the three star Pokémon, suggesting content that is both prestigious and sought-after for collectors.
Mega-Pokémon in force and exclusive content for fans
The official trailer reveals other figures expected in the expansion, such as Mega-Pinsir, Mega-Absol and Mega-Ampharos. In total, Mega Rising should offer a full gallery of Mega Evolutionsvery in line with the strong return of this mechanic in the Pokémon universe.
At the same time, The Pokémon Company confirmed that the limited edition Deluxe pack would no longer be available after the release of Mega Risingreinforcing the exclusivity and perceived value of the new cards.
If this news didn’t surprise anyone, it’s because the arrival of Mega Evolutions in Pocket had already leaked and was the subject of several indirect announcements for months. A logical choice, driven by the growing popularity of these transformations, relaunched in Pokémon Legends ZA, highlighted in the anime, and even through new stuffed animals with the image of Mega-Pokémon.
New trades and features coming to the game
Among the other new features expected in the coming weeks, the card exchange system will evolve. Players will soon be able to trade rarer cards, but at a significant cost in shinedust. Another practical addition: community cards can be offered to friends without compensationa first in the mobile version.
Finally, although it has not yet been confirmed as playable, Mega Dragonite has already been seen in the Pokémon Horizons animated seriesa nod that reinforces speculation about its future integration into the game.
