Announced during theID@Xbox Spring Showcase 2026this project wants to establish itself as the new social playground for evenings with friends.
Behind this colorful title hides a free-to-play designed for full cross-play and quick games, but also for chill sessions in a life simulation style. And above all, it will be downloadable for free in 2027 on PS5 and Xbox, with no subscription required to play online.
Totopia: the big free game coming to PS5 and Xbox without subscription
Developed by the Korean studio JNG Studio, Topopia is described as a multiplayer party platformer and social hub. Formerly known as Project ATOMit has already been talked about at PAX before taking its final name and opening up to consoles.
The game will be a pure free-to-play : as for Fortnite Or Fall Guyssimply download it on PS5 or Xbox to play online, without PS Plus or Game Pass Core. The sheet Steam mentions “in-game purchases”, which suggests a mainly cosmetic store, even if the details of the economic model remain to be clarified.
A giant party game between Fall Guys and cozy life sim: what does Totopia look like?
Visually, Topopia focuses on a very cute style, but the content is not limited to obstacle courses. The game promises more than 100 maps mixing chaotic races, fights, platform sections, bosses and cooperative challenges, in a vein close to Fall Guys but with more variety and real progression.
The universe revolves around creatures called Atoms and a named threat Bitrotwhich serves as a framework for the various activities. Between two events, the players find themselves on Pulse Avenuea large social hub where you can fish, tend your garden, run a café or simply chat and hang out with your friends. For the general public, we can imagine it as a mix between a competitive party game and a small life simulation at home. Animal Crossing.
On the personalization side, Topopia aims broad: creation of avatar from A to Z (hairstyle, face, “brand”, clothes) but also construction and decoration of its own base with furniture and landscaped areas. The idea is to make your corner of the world a real meeting place for your group.
Release date, cross-play and beta: when can you try Totopia?
Topopia is planned for the second quarter 2027 on PS5, Xbox SeriesPC via Steam and Epic Games Storeas well as on iOS and Android. The game is designed from the ground up for cross play : It doesn’t matter if your friends are on console, PC or mobile, the goal is for everyone to be able to play together.
Before this release, a “Mic Check” playtest is organized on Steam from May 7 to 21, 2026. It will allow PC players to get a first look at gameplay and network stability, while no console beta has yet been announced. For PS5 and Xbox players, you will therefore have to wait, but the equation remains very attractive: a big social party game, cross-play, free and without compulsory subscription.
