Bases that can be repainted, bloodthirsty robots that land, and a giant whale in the water. No, this is not an anime script, but the latest Palworld update. Called Home Sweet Home, it will be deployed on December 17, and marks a new milestone for the survival game phenomenon by Pocketpair.
In addition to its strange and effective partnership with ULTRAKILL, the update introduces an advanced base customization system, some technical adjustments and above all… a barely veiled tease of what the future version 1.0 expected for 2026 will be.
An improbable ULTRAKILL collaboration… but very real
When in September, Pocketpair announced a collaboration with the frenetic FPS ULTRAKILL, many thought it was a joke. Two worlds at odds: on one side cute creatures and a colorful world; on the other, blood, metal and nervous pixels. And yet, the crossover is indeed there.
The Home Sweet Home update includes several pieces of content inspired by Arsi Hakita Patala’s game. Players will be able to equip skins of V1 and V2, ULTRAKILL’s two robotic figures, integrate their weapons into the arsenal, and even experiment with a parry system directly borrowed from their gameplay.
As one player on
Far from a simple wink, this collaboration above all allows us to connect two very active communities. It also opens the way to future inter-universe mergers, as Pocketpair seems to have taken a liking to in recent months.
Home Sweet Home: personalizing your world becomes possible
But the addition that could permanently transform the player experience is the arrival of a base recoloring system. Until now rather functional, Palworld’s homes will finally be able to reflect everyone’s creativity.
Each material can now be repainted in a predefined color palette. Certain pigments will require specific resources to harvest from the world or synthesize, which adds a new dimension to exploration.
“We’re no longer just talking about surviving in Palworld, but about feeling at home there,” the developers explain in the official documents. And for fans of roleplay or community building, this promise takes on its full meaning.
With this feature, Palworld is closer to a total sandbox game, where players can let their imagination run wild. A natural evolution towards a deeper immersion, where each base becomes a marker of identity.
A teaser for version 1.0 that ignites the community
At the very end of the Home Sweet Home trailer, a massive figure bursts out of the water. An unknown Pal, never seen before. By searching the archives, some fans found an early pre-access trailer where we could see a flying whale, which has since disappeared.
Could it be the same Pal? Maybe. Pocketpair deliberately maintains the mystery. What is certain is that version 1.0 is now official for 2026. And this appearance seems to mark a more ambitious turning point in the narrative and game mechanics.
Speculation is rife: enlarged map, new biomes, legendary Pals, enriched narrative structure… but we will have to wait a little longer to find out for sure. “It’s a promise of continuity, but also a message: the best is yet to come,” we can read in the game’s Discord community.
An update designed for the entire community
The update will be deployed simultaneously on all platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series and Xbox One. A desire for unification assumed by the studio: “The unification of deployments on the different platforms is a key step in the development of a successful service game,” says a Pocketpair developer.
This technical homogeneity meets the strong expectations of console players, who are often behind on PC patches. With this new update cycle, Palworld intends to treat everyone equally.
For newcomers, Home Sweet Home offers a more personalized playground from the start. For veterans, she confirms that Pocketpair does not intend to abandon its game after its initial buzz, but rather to build a lasting and evolving universe.
