Despite setbacks, the live-action adaptation of the manga series “One Piece” is one of the most successful series on Netflix – and while work is underway on the next season, not only the fans but also the cast are already thinking about the future newcomers. We summarize.
Cast makes suggestions
For example, Jacob Gibson (Usopp) and Emily Rudd (Nami) commented on possible expansions of the Straw Hat gang at the last GalaxyCon and also named specific ideal candidates for future roles.
While Gibson was in favor of Dave Bautista as Jinbei, the Knight of the Sea, Rudd would like to see John Cena in the role of the cyborg Franky.
Due to their previous roles, the two actors mentioned undoubtedly have enough experience with exaggerated but at the same time complex characters. Finally, Dave Bautista embodied the character Drax in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and John Cena impressed as Peacemaker in the DC Universe.
It is currently unclear whether Netflix will actually take up these suggestions. What is certain, however, is that the series will be expanded further after its success and a third season is already in the works. Publication is scheduled for 2027.
