Promotions on the Nintendo eShop can sometimes turn a video game classic into a real deal. This is currently the case of a particularly notable FPS from the early 2010s, now offered at an almost symbolic price on Nintendo Switch.
The Metro Redux compilation indeed benefits from a spectacular reduction. Usually priced at €29.99, it is currently available for only €2.99, a 90% discount. An opportunity for players to discover one of the most atmospheric series in video games.
Metro Redux brings together two major narrative FPS adventures
Metro Redux is not a single game but a compilation bringing together two iconic titles: Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light. Released in 2010 and 2013 respectively, these games were developed by the 4A Games studio and published by Deep Silver. They quickly made an impact on FPS fans thanks to their very narrative approach and their particularly oppressive atmosphere.
The Redux version offers a remastered edition of the two adventures, integrating all the additional content published after their release. Players can therefore enjoy the full experience.
This compilation also includes several game modes intended to modify the way you approach the adventure. Spartan mode encourages action and strengthens the main character’s combat abilities. Conversely, Ranger mode significantly increases the difficulty by almost completely removing the interface.
A post-apocalyptic world under the Moscow tunnels
The Metro universe is distinguished by its unique setting. After a nuclear disaster, survivors of Moscow found refuge in the underground metro system. These tunnels then become real refuges where different human factions attempt to rebuild a form of society. The player plays Artyom, a young resident of the VDNKh station. When his home is threatened by mysterious creatures called the Dark Ones, he finds himself drawn into a long journey through the Moscow subway.
Throughout his journey, Artyom discovers the rivalries between factions, the dangers present on the surface and the secrets that surround these creatures with psychic abilities. This universe is directly inspired by the novels of Dmitry Glukhovsky, whose games take up the dark atmosphere and philosophical dimension.
A unique atmosphere that left its mark on the players
Metro does not only stand out for its storyline. The series is best known for its very particular atmosphere. Dark tunnels, dilapidated stations and contaminated areas create constant tension. The player must manage his resources, save his ammunition and stay alert to the dangers that arise in the narrow corridors. This atmosphere is often close to survival horror, even if the game remains above all an FPS.
Despite the technical limitations of the Nintendo Switch, the portable version retains most of this visual and sound identity. Exploring the subway, fighting creatures and interacting with survivors remain particularly memorable moments for players.
A spectacular reduction for a few days
The current promotion makes this compilation particularly accessible. On the Nintendo eShop, Metro Redux is offered at €2.99 instead of €29.99. That’s a 90% discount, putting the compilation among the biggest deals on the console right now. This promotion remains available until March 8. After this date, the price will return to its usual rate. Metro Redux also remains accessible on other platforms, including PC, PlayStation and Xbox. On recent consoles, certain versions can be launched thanks to backward compatibility.
